Waterless Wash & Wax

Now that I have some time on my hands and I'm not going anywhere I was thinking of cleaning the AS. I don't have water available where it is stored so I was curious what others would recommend for a waterless wash/wax.

The AS is not really "dirty/grtitty". It has just been sitting in storage for a few months. I'm aware that one must be careful not to capture grit in the cleaning cloth or there will be consequences.

Any recommendation for a waterless wash/wax that you have used to satisfaction?

Thanks!

Yes, that’s part of a whole system which I’ve had good luck with. It was originally designed for cleaning private airplanes where water really is hard to come by. I wouldn’t use it if the trailer is covered with grit but otherwise it’s worked well for me. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006AG7ZM4..._CT6HEbQS943KX

I use it on the boat, works very well, the boat gelcoat is hard to scratch.
I would NOT use it on the Airstream.
Even washing against the 'grain' with a boars hair brush can blemish the clear. AMHIK🥴

I have used this on my AS and my vehicles with great success. Sounds perfect for what you are trying to do.

It will scratch!

I've tried this Bob is correct. One application = one year of removing fine scratches. Honestly Airsteam clear is like butter. I tried the infamous California Duster- That is why you now see me applying 4 coats of Glare in between removing fine scratches. As Bob said you will get 1000 opinions. I will say if its outside your will think you did a fabulous! Job. Move it inside under florescent lighting and you will get sick.

Daleyocum,

Do you use this product if the AS is dusty and has water spots? Or is the dust enough to scratch the finish?

While not totally waterless, I use this mitt and microfiber cloth from Norwex. I've cleaned our entire FC23FB (except the roof) in 3" of water in a 5-gallon bucket. (YMMV) Gets the bug smashes pretty well, too.

I personally don’t use it without a rinse if there is more than (formally airborne) dust and water spots on it. The system comes with multiple of their special velcro-attached cleaning heads that are much better at trapping dirt in my opinion than just using a towel. I change those once every side of the trailer. The system also comes with a nifty extension pole that expands and compresses with a flick, much better than my previous Home Depot version.

If there are just a few areas with a little road grime or mud on them I’ll wash those with a bucket and lots of water first so as not to spread that around.

I use Envy Care. Yes, I use it when the trailer is dusty or dirty. It floats the dirt away from the trailer. Whatever you choose try it on a small area that does not show first.

I have found that Dri Wash n Guard ( a Polymer based formula) works well on Any non-porous surface. It has been in use since 1990. I have been a distributor since 1997. I have friends with high end Class A units that swear by it. I used to own an Airstream and I did use it on that. It shields and protects. I used the Metal Polish product on my damaged skin in some parts but did not try deoxidizing the entire skin. However I will seek out someone in my area that is willing to let me try it on their unit. I live in Waco, Texas so if anyone out there wants to give it a try, my email is jthomas9729@gmail.com

Good to know. I've used this product for 5+ years with great success on several RV's (we're full-time). Was about to try in our newly aquired 27FB travel rig as I thought it would work great. Now I'm not so sure I'm as excited knowing the AS clearcoat is like butter.

Washing

If you don't have soap and water at your trailer location. Remember it has wheels. Tow it to a different location. Those waterless items is for a clean surface.

I noticed the Aero product mentioned. I've used both Aero and Meguairs Wash Wax Anywhere on a SOB trailer. I found Meguiars to do a marginally better job of cleaning and is available at many auto and big box stores. Aero is lower cost especially if you buy the gallon concentrate but mail order only.
No idea how either will affect AS clear coat.

I have a 31foot 1998 Excella 1000 that has some of the clear coat "missing" from the top front of the trailer, plus normal "wear-n-tear" scratches of a used trailer. Are these "waterless washes"/coatings OK to use in this "mixed" condition? One seem to work better under these circumstances?
