Stripping Question

So I just started stripping my AS today. It worked great on the test place. Next I proceeded to the front nose of the trailer. As you can see from the trailer the top of my trailer is greyish dark stain. This is true around the trailer. I've done two coats of stripper on the trailer and the top of it just isn't changing on the top part of the trailer.

I hope that the pictures make more sense that my description above.

Should I just keep stripping it until it changes, or might it need to be buffed clean once I've done a few coats of stripper?

The top of the trailer is usually were the clear fails first and then starts oxidizing, are you sure that is not the case and has no clear coat left?

I'll second Alincal, there probably isn't any clear coat left if you've done a couple coats and no change.

You're probably planning on polishing it. Try a little spot, if you get black residue you're on aluminum.

Thanks for the info. I wasn't planning on polishing it right away, I was hoping the oxidation would come off with the stripper. I guess I will go ahead and polish it now though. The grey really get on my nerves

Oxidation or Clear coat

I've stripped my camper and started polishing with Nuvite. After the first application I stil have the spots into picture. Is this clear coat left behind or oxidation that I just being stubborn?

I tried not to skip any steps like first and second cuts.

This is the way I did the polishing:

First cut, Black Caswell compound: 10" vented wheel, and 8" white non-sewn airway wheel.

Second cut, Brown Caswell compound: 8" white non-sewn airway wheel.

Third cut, Nuvite S: Cyclo with soft cotton cloth.

I bought a white compound bar but I didn't use it. I used a "spur" buffing pad cleaner. I cleaned up after compound with mineral spirits. There wasn't much cleanup after Nuvite S.

I live in the country and I burned used rags at the end of every day. If I couldn't burn, I'd submerge used rags in water with a lid on the pail. Those rags REALLY burn, so they're dangerous.

Eastern South Dakota is very pretty with hills, rivers, and trees.
