Removing Scratch with 1200 Grit Paper

Well, I just went to 2 Hurricanes in 2 weeks, so I am having fun. I had to move the trailer before the first storm and was in a hurry. I put a nasty scratch on the side, which really ramped me up. The good thing to come out of this is I have found out that MicroFine 1200 wet dry sand paper dose a great job of taking out stracthes. The correct name is Imperial Wetordry Color Sanding Paper 3M. I use it with a palm sander and a spray bottle. I have polished the area and seems to polish up nice. It is a option for scratch removal. I had nothing to lose when I tried it.

Interesting Jim,
Did the scratch go through the plasticoat assuming you have a coated trailer? Were you polishing aluminum or plasticoat? Any pics of the before and after would be great.

Hi Jim.
Was thinking about you guys down in New Orleans, when this nasty weather came around.
Glad you are ok and all you have to remember this by is the little scratch.
Can I send you 3 rivets?

Peter thanks for thinking of us. A little scratch is not much damage when I see what others have had happen in storms. Thanks for the rivet offer, I bit the rivet and purchased a box. I figured I had a few more to replace here and their. I worked on the damage a little today it is getting better. I plan to purchase another sleeve of 1200 grit tomorrow to finish up the job.
