Removing rust and scratches

Wondering if there's any way to remove rust stains from the outer aluminum skin. The old rock guard latches rusted and ran down the front of the trailer. PO tried to remove the rust stains with something abrasive (sandpaper?), now the aluminum is scratched and rusty Any way to lessen the appearance of the scratches?

Really the PO did not help your restoration. Your trailer has a clear-coat and if sand paper was used odds are the clear-coat and aluminum are damaged. If you what it gone it means stripping the clear-coat and polishing the aluminum to get the scratches out. There is a guy in Oregon that can do this and has had good results. I'll dig up the link. Found it. http://www.airforums.com/forums/f474...p-53238-2.html. There is DIY option Polishing. http://www.airforums.com/forums/f441/

Thanks, Lee. We have already stripped the clear coat from the front panel and unfortunately the scratches are through the clear coat. Thanks for your help.
