As with everything, I'm sure this has been addressed before--but thanks in advance for any advice.
I am about to begin polishing my motley, oxidized '86 Excella in sections, starting with the crowns at either end so that I can get my new WBCCI numerals and crests affixed. Step 1 is removing the nameplates (rear one pictured).
Because I don't think I can replace these nameplates, I'm terrified of messing this up. But from what I understand it's as simple as drilling out the pop rivets (no special tool needed because they're hollow and thus pre-dimpled). Right?
Once I have it off, I'd like to do whatever I can to extend its life--paint it, seal it, etc. Any advice?
And once I've polished the crowns, I should be able to reaffix it with another three pop rivets, yes?
Thanks for any advice!
