Polishing areas

For those of you that have "done the deed". Do you compound and polish one area then move on to the next area or do you strip the whole trailer then compound the whole trailer then polish the whole trailer? thanks

Personally....I strip the whole thing. I then compound the whole thing then polish.

It's is personal preference. Definitely strip the entire trailer first before any polishing.

I did the whole trailer step by step. Each polish step uses a different grit; doing each step on the whole trailer help to avoid "cross contamination" of product (not getting the really gritty stuff on your medium cut buffing pads).
well, that was my MO at least. I used nuvite, and found that there was always a bit of product that "slings" out from the pad.

Thanks all. I see most suggest using a respirator. Do you just use a N95 particulate mask?

Hi, just wondering if someone could give me some insight to what I am seeing with my polishing. I started testing different methods on the door. I figured if I completely screwed up I could replace the door. I wound up thinking that using a grinder/polisher with Jestco grey bar etc works best for me and the door looks great.
Anyway, on Saturday I removed the clear coat from the rest of the trailer with Removall 220. I picked a small section towards the bottom and side of the trailer and tested that spot with the grey bar. It looked great. Then I tested a section on the rear end cap using the same method with the grey bar. It looks much duller in appearance than the other section and the door. Maybe the end cab needs more passes? Maybe the end cap gets more sun than the sides so there is more oxidation? Different type of aluminum? I just dont want to burn through the aluminum with too many passes and then have a lousy looking end cap. Any help would be great. Thanks
