Pete likes the Ice (Turtle Wax that is)

Well, I decided I had some spare energy yesterday afternoon, so I started on the annual wash, detail, and polish routine of Shiny Pete, our Flying Cloud 27fb.

Pete has been babied most of his 3 and 1/2 years, living in our pole barn when he is not camping 50+ nights per year. However, he still gets plenty grimy with dust, pollen, moisture, etc., and I usually wash him like 3x per year. I've done his spring polishing with Walbernize in the past, but at 4 pm yesterday I discovered I didn't have enough left to even start.

Hmm..........what to do........didn't some folks on AF mention Turtle Wax Ice some time ago as a good solution? Shazam, a quick trip to town, and let's go.........

And, I am happy to report, both Pete and I are very pleased with the results. Super shine, easy to put on and take off, and it may just be easier than Walbernize (sorry Airstream purists). The Ice is a liquid, non-cleaning/abrasive polish, in a 14 oz bottle, and I used almost exactly 1/2 of the bottle to finish Pete late this morning, for a total project time of about 6 hours.

So there you go. Oh, and you can use Ice on the cast parts and plastic parts as well for a nice sheen. Hope this helps.

Turtle Wax used to have along with the Ice wax and Ice liquid "clay" that cleaned off the impurities before using the Ice wax. I really liked the combination for my cars. They don't seem to offer that product anymore.

FWIW-

So almost a year later, and I just washed and Waxed Pete this Friday/Saturday for 2018. I am happy to report that the TW Ice held up great, and both Pete and I are definitely fans. So well in fact, that the water still beaded up nicely running down the sidewalls while washing, even though they were quite dirty from a huge early pollen bloom here in Central Florida (read yellow dust everywhere for 3-4 weeks). Other than some quick rinses/campground wipe-downs, I have only fully washed Pete twice since last May. I think the TW Ice helps it stay cleaner, and it is super easy to do a quick spray/micro-fiber towel down................

This time the old local Walmart had the TW Ice in a handy spray bottle, that mists the product on. (This is their full wax-like product, not one of the available "quick detailer sprays" many produce). I like it even better than the liquid pour-on. You do a small section at a time, mist on, wipe in with a clean micro-fiber, and "polish" with another dry micro-fiber. Took me exactly 3 hours to wax this year, and 8 very inexpensive micro-fiber towels (14x14").

So there you go. Walbernize works of course (used it for 3 years), but this stuff is easier to apply, shines better, and lasts longer.............
