Oxidation? Filaform?

Hi Everyone - we stripped the clearcoat on our '73 this weekend and are left with some ugliness. See pic. Is this oxidaton or filaform or something else? It's only on the street side and top so I assume it was caused by baking in the sun. Why is it not on the back panels? Thanks in advance for your help! Brian

The end caps are a different alloy, 6061 I think, and has better corrosion resistance then the 2024 alloy of the center panels.

The end caps might have been replaced with newer and possibly Alcoa clear coated replacement panels. The lower and center rear end caps on my 1998 Bambi were replaced but until I stripped the clear coat and the Olympic rivets oxidized some they looked like bucked rivets.

Looks like it might be residual clear coat. What are you using for stripper? Filiform corrosion looks like ice crystals and is usually localized I think. Was it there before you stripped? A close up photo would help.
