Mystery (Miracle) Coating

There's actually two parts to this mystery; first the miracle coating and second the man who sold it to me. Here's the story;
Twenty years ago (probably more ) I purchased a 1967 Safari from a gentleman in the hills of Malibu California. It was mostly original and in really nice shape when I towed it back to its new home in San Diego. When I was doing the walk around he pointed to the exterior aluminum and said "If you ever polish it let me know before you do because I applied an experimental coating to this panel and I'm curious how it holds up". "Sure, sure" I replied and drove away not paying much attention. Now I am about to dive in and restore the exterior polish and am struck by how pristine and new looking the panel he pointed out is. If the rest of the trailer was similarly treated I literally wouldn't need to go through the effort of restoring it (and if I knew what it was I would apply it in a heartbeat). It looks fantastic. And that's after sitting in my back yard a half mile from the Pacific salt air for 20 years.
So, to my original question - does anyone know what that coating / treatment might be? and to the second part - does anyone know who might have made a retirement out of restoring old Airstreams in the hills of Malibu 20+ years ago who might have the answer?
I've included a photo from boondocking in Anza Borrego that gives the viewer a sense of the difference between the panel rear of the passenger side wheel and the rest of the bodywork.
Any help would be appreciated!

I love a good mystery! Makes me want to fire up an episode of Columbo!

Do you not have the bill of sale? Is there no record of the transaction at the DMV that could provide half the mystery?

Good luck!

Well, I’m sure what ever the coating was it is now banned in California or at least contains chemicals that have been know to cause cancer there.

Welcome Aboard!! 👍

Question...you are unable, or have you tried, to do what original owner requested?

It sure would be nice to find out what it was. 👍

In answer to the above and others... No bill of sale, no records whatsoever. I did an extensive google search to find him with no promising leads. As to the original owners request - he simply asked that I consult him before stripping or polishing the miracle coating. I'd love to find him or hear from someone what the coating might be...

That's correct - I don't know who the gentleman who sold me the AS is. My limited detective skills apparently aren't sufficient to figure it out. If he were to come forward and recognize the set of circumstances ("Hey - I lived in the hills of Malibu and sold an airstream with a trick coating on it..."), I would hope I/we could benefit. It truly is a remarkable difference after all that time and lack of maintenance.

Bump it up because it'd be nice to know what this coating is.

I had a thought. My father had a Cessna painted years ago, maybe in the late 70's or 80's, and used IMRON paint. That paint stayed nice on that plane for 30 years. I mean, never lost it's fresh waxed look, kept it's gloss without fade.

So I searched IMRON clear coat, and came up with this...where, under 'suggested uses' it includes aluminum.

I'm sure I had one at the time of registration. A couple moves took care of that.
Thanks for all the feedback in the above posts. Guess it will remain a mystery...

Back in the day zoopseal was effective at this. Now it is discontinued, and no market replacement is available for it

Also, in Texas, the previous titled owner is listed on the title as well. It may be on your title...
