Klean Strip Damage?

My PO thought it would be a good idea to paint the trailer with silver paint. So, I've had a lot of stripping to do before I polish. I've tried a variety of strippers with varied results. This afternoon I tried Klean Strip Strip X Stripper, it had a really toxic smell and bubbled up quickly, so far so good, but when I hosed it off the aluminum had a chalky finish to it. The other strippers I has used up to this point have left the aluminum fairly shiny. Have I made a terrible error using this stripper? Or will the chalky finish dissipate once I begin polishing? Please advise.

Sounds like it may have slightly acid etched the surface to me.

It should polish out ~

Most likely it is paint residue. You may need a more coarse compound to start... 3M-05955 or 3M-05954 Good Luck, post pics if you can???
