Filiform corrosion everywhere - what to do?
Hi all,
Looking for some advice. We’re fairly new still to Airstreams but loving it. We bought a 2020 FC 26U less than a year ago. We were told at the time it had some Filiform corrosion but “ just a bit here and there” and should not be problematic as long as it looked after. Of course, we thought we fully understood it as we had researched that issue and so proceeded. Life happened, I had a few surgeries, and there was so much to learn as a newbie it frankly slipped our minds. We’ve recently noted it seems to be around the edges of all the window trim, other body trim and the tail light casings. Even the hitch is rusted, so we think this Airstream spent a lot of time on the coast in a prior life. We understand how to treat if it’s just various spots. But if it’s on all trims to some extent, what is the best course of action? Just take it to our local Airstream dealer and have them fix? And to throw another wrinkle, we’re thinking of getting a bit larger model at s9me lin the future. So is it better to just do something to stop the spread and trade in now? We have no idea how much it would cost to have fixed, or are we panicking unnecessarily? We don’t want to get stuck with a problematic trailer.
Thanks so much for any input, much appreciated!
