Extreme Simple Green Aircraft Cleaner and black streaks on Argosy
We nearly finished painting the Argosy before winter set in last year. Then when we went to finish the paint this week we found dreaded black streaks down the sides that WOULD NOT WASH OFF! (Photo 1 & 2) After frantic searching on the Internet I found "Extreme Simple Green Aircraft and Precision Cleaner" as a good black streak remover. I got it from Grainger. Using it directly, the black streaks were faint but nearly gone. (3rd photo) Thankfully, elbow grease and Turtle "Color Back" compound removed the last of the black streaks and we learned a painful lesson- WAX your Argosy after the paint has cured! We will move "building the pole barn cover" to the top of the to-do list after we finish the interior Argosy restoration. The paint is done (4th photo).
For silver-stream owners- check out the Extreme Simple Green Aircraft and Precision Cleaner. It is non-caustic, non-foaming, and "green". It is a good cleaner overall, even if it did not completely remove the black streaks.
