Creeping Crud

My new-to-me 2001 Bambi has white surface oxidation creeping out from the bottom edge of the oval metal badges on both sides. It extends a half inch out under the mylar stripe, causing a bulge. Looks like the aluminum is corroding, possibly from salt trapped behind the badge? What do folks commonly do to halt and remediate? I'm guessing the emblem has to come off to clean it up.

Go to the search function and type "filiform" you should find more than you care to know about it.

Check out this thread: http://www.airforums.com/forums/f142...ams-31743.html

It will give you something to read for the next month, but there's useful information about how to treat corrosion.

Like all things Airstream, it's treatable and repairable. Good info on repair in the threads mentioned, but there's a lot of complaining to dig through to find it. No sense in starting another thread on repair, it will undoubtably go the same way.
