Cerakote Clear Coat after Polishing

Hi All, I've finished polishing my 1975 airstream (that was super fun). I would really like to put a clear coat back on. Honestly, I would prefer to be able to put a satin clear coat but cannot find a product to use. I came across the Cerakote (https://www.cerakote.com/shop/cerako...es=cera_clears) and spoke with them and of course they believe their product will do wonders and be perfect for this. Problem is all they have is a matte or gloss and i'm not really thrilled with either. I know KBS has the diamond clear coat in a satin but again can't find anyone that has used these products so I'm hoping someone out there has experience with one of these or any other suggestions on a product they know works well without too bad of disappointing results.

I did see a nice 87 last week with a fresh clear coat on it. I don't recall where it was done. My plan is to try something like this. https://shop.everbritecoatings.com/i...=index&cPath=7

A new top contender for me. I am excited about what some of these things could mean to extended the shine of these polished trailers.

I've been chatting with the folks at "AlumiClear" over the past about doing my 1996 34' Front Kitchen. One of the key things to take into consideration is the polish that is used during the polishing process. Many of the polishes on the market have a certain amount of silicon in the mixture to help with the process of water repellant. The problem with this mixture (if you're planning to clear-coat after polishing), any auto-body shop runs in fear when they see silicon near their building.

AlumiClear has a polishing compound that "does not" have a silicon product as part of the formula allowing their clear coat to bond better, providing a longer lasting (less peeling) finish. In fact, they have a 3-5 warranty for trucks used in commercial trucking.

Looking to have this done over the winter, I have no problem being the test subject.

Time will tell.

This is a good thread. My 1994 trailer is really showing it's age on the exterior. This winter I was going to try striping the clearcoat on the LP tank cover and getting some kind of protective coating. I don't want a polished trailer as I like the factory look. Are there any shops that will put a clear coat on our trailers?
I thought I would strip the clearcoat, use some light metal polish to even out the surface and apply a coating.
Have any of you heard of Sharkhide? It looks like many of these products do the same thing. Wish I understood the chemistry better.

If yours is showing the male pattern balding? If so you will probably have to polish once. Once it is all even you can let it age gracefully.
