Blue Beacon Truck Wash and Sprayway Glass Cleaner

This is a bit nonconformist to many who want a CLEAN AIRSTREAM. I will take any feedback as it will be greatly appreciated. If you are in a hurry... there could be shorter introductions to keep you entertained.

Blue Beacon Truck Washes are across the USA. Truckers WANT their tractor trailers to look absolutely... perfect. There is much pride among Truck Drivers even if the cab and truck are privately owned, or corporate... the majority take great care keeping their 'investment' clean and sharp.

I have used Blue Beacon for years. You line up with the 18 wheelers, RV Buses, fifth wheels and... I have never found an Airstream in line... but as I said... this may be unconventional for Airstream Owners. My Mom is Dutch, so if you are unconventional... you are a Wooden Head... of some sort. Like the wooden shoes used when working outside in the damp garden in the Netherlands.

Our 25 foot and our current 27 foot Airstream were regulars when our pride and camping joy needs a real wash. Current price as of October 1, 2019 for Tow Vehicle and 27 foot Airstream... $42.50. This was at the Kingman, Arizona wash.

...and when you pull out after six to seven guys are spray washing, NONE touch either tow vehicle or trailer, the prewash, washing, rinsing and spot free rinse runs about 15 minutes, more or less. It is an experience.

You pull out and the supervisor will walk out to see that you are one... happy... camper. We have been, even though after you get home, you will get water streaks from the side strips that leave light streaks from dust in between the aluminum and trim when the wind pushes water from behind trim. NO.... problem

When I have a moment after it is dry, when at home... I use, from Costco... Sprayway Glass Cleaner that comes in a pressured can. NO AMMONIA. It also smells better than you do after a long trip. I clean the light dust streaking, IF ANY and clean the windows while I am at it. Often the windows are spotless after the wash.

I spray haphazardly, not over doing the window spray and then wipe down with, of course, Costco microfiber cloths that they sell in large packages. I use them around the house, cleaning windows and always have a can with us when trailer camping in the 'Bush'. Great for cleaning the interior table tops, cabinets... and dry with microfiber. When getting too wet, replace with a dry one. When everything is dry... catch the odds ends with another dry micro fiber to get a perfect clean surface and no swirls. You are WIPING... the surface of the aluminum... not polishing it with excess force. Just... take it easy... OK.

Always 100% happy. Great exercise. A step stool to get to the HIGH areas.

I believe Blue Beacon use a brush soaping on the wheels and tires... but NOT on the aluminum body. IF you want to discover a leak... you will get your money's worth of discovery. So pull over at a parking lot and check the interior. If it is DRY... you have had an official Leak Test... for FREE. Check windows too... some are not tight enough and you make adjustments. WE have been very lucky... no leaks.

Call me anything you want... but Blue Beacon has a folder with all of their locations and open 24 hours. If Ray is happy... it is a miracle!

Good luck and are there any other Airstream owners with... unconventional examples?

We've used Blue Beacon a few times on our Foretravel and have been pleased. As Ray said, you do get a free leak test. The coach does come out MUCH cleaner than when it went in. I've never had anyone come out to see whether or not I'm happy with the wash, but so far I've always been happy.

Ray - thanks for recommendation. Heading to SW in January then back to Colorado and I'll stop at Blue Beacon near Denver.

Well, me too, but when you're on the road for months, leave on sloppy roads, you don't have much of a choice.

Actually, I have a couple friends with AS's who swear by these...my issue is they are not close to where I live...when I have seen them, it has been while driving on the highway somewhere, and I am to much of a hurry to turn around. I understand they have a "special" lane for RV's that typically is not crowded so this goes pretty fast I am told.

I routinely use Blue Beacon. The one at the base of the grapevine on I5 in Arvin CA is a bit pricey as compared to others but still a good value for my $$$ and time. A supervisor always asks me if the job was done right. Avoid the brightener application! (light acid) - Brad

Sprayway glass cleaner is good stuff. Walmart sells it as well. I just picked up a spare can to keep in my garage.
