Why doesn't this fit out the door?

I thought everything inside an Airstream was supposed to fit out the door. Why can't I get my tub/sink/toilet topper out? Even if I were to remove the additional wood attached to the bottom of the tub, it doesn't seem like it will fit out the door.

p.s. it's cold here in Minnesota but we've got hockey on the tube and a fire in the woodburner to keep us warm...

When they originally installed it, it was less than half that size . Once it comes in to contact with water it expands to fill the space and then hardens.

GR8DANE, on the 66 when I got ours the PO had the bathroom out (he wasn't going to use it) and had cut the tub in half to do so. I fiberglassed it back together inside the trailer, then when we ended up getting it ready to trade, the new owner doesn't want it. If your bathroom is the same, you can remove the sink and its base with a few rivets, and can also remove the skirting that goes around the base of the tub and toilet bench by drilling out a few rivets. Gave us just enough room to shoe horn it around the corner.

Turn it around in various ways like a Rubic's Cube till you find the right way. It isn't as obvious as it might seem, but eventually you'll see that one part of the tub will go through, and then by rotating it as you push, it will go out.

Were they added prior to the shell being set onto the floor/frame?

Thanks go to Forrest! Treating the tub like a spacial game (Tetris) did the trick. It only took a coupla trys to find the right way out. My outbuilding is filling up with Airstream interior parts. Next to go is the fridge and galley, then the water heater.

WOW...so thats what I get to look forward to! I spent the afternoon watching the Packers beat da Bears...and taking the dinette out of my 67 Safari...


What kind of plans do you have for your reinstallation of the interior?

First of all, I have to admit that I thought aircooled4 had made up their town name until I googled Pardeeville, Wisconsin. It seemed redundant. As to what the insides of my trailer will look like, that's still up in the air. I really like the old bathroom arrangement, but would like to put in a rear bedroom. I am going to use the Safari for two purposes. First and most importantly as a music festival camper. I would like to have as much room inside for entertaining as possible. Second, I am going to use it as a State Park camper with an emphasis on boondocking. My thoughts of an interior drift toward a very spartan (simple, not the trailer brand) layout with a bedroom, head, sink, and seating. As simplistic as it seems, an outdoor grill would take care of my cooking needs and an industrial sized 5-day cooler would keep the beer cold.

If anybody has any insight or examples along these lines, I'd love to see what people have done.

The overhead storage cabinets are not going back in. If I go with hot water, I'll go with an on-demand system and I guess a small furnace would complete the trailer. A nice vintage awning would be nice for Christmas, if anybody is shopping for strangers this year!
