What year is my Airstream?

I just purchased a Airstream Land Yacht -- I was told it was '78 and was wondering if that could be verified. The number stamped by the door is I31-D7J-1762...any information that can be provided on my new Airstream would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

You have a 1977 Airstream Sovereign International, with center double beds, built in Jackson Center, Ohio.

Yep, it's a 1977.

It may have been purchased & registered in 1978, even though it was built in '77 - thus the confusion. Oftentimes POs rely on the registration for the "model year" when the VIN # is much more accurate.

My 1985 Sovereign was manufactured in August 1984 according to the info plate street side. Like a car??
