What to do with the vintage leftovers?
We replaced the townsend toilet and refrigerator in our '65 Caravel. Now we have the old, non-working parts sitting in our garage (along with boxes of other parts too). What do you do with it? I hate to set it out on the curb

Can you repurpose them?
Would a toilet make a whimsical planter?

I've sold a few things here in the Classifieds. I've given away much more of it for the cost of shipping or come and get it! For example, I sold a wheel cover from our '73 because they are rare and hard to find in good shape. I think I asked $25.00. I sold the old GLASS oven door to a fellow in Montana for a few bucks (and it arrived intact, believe it or not). I literally gave away a truck-load to a nice family from South Georgia who needed many parts for their '70's camper (we completely gutted our trailer and started over with a (nearly) completely new interior).
The point is this, somebody will probably want those parts for something. You're not going to make a fortune trying to sell things-I think we've made about $200 total on all parts sold.
Final thought. Out of the blue, a very kind fellow forum member sent us a badly needed piece of aluminum trim for free. He wouldn't even let us pay him for the postage. We thought that was a pretty dern good example to follow. So we did.

I tried
I would save all sorts of items from my projects. If someone posted a need I would contact them and GIVE it to them. All I asked was to cover the postage. The last three needing a stove vent assembly, a vintage antenna, and a new wheel for a 66. All of them stuck me. I am done with that. It all gets trashed now.

If you are a member of wbcci you could offer them in your unit newsletter. I have sold some at the Region rally swap and sell. If it does not sell you put it out for free and someone picks it up to use later.

You still should not trash vintage parts their is somone out there that might need them and will pay something maby not much but at least it gets salvaged because they don't make those original parts anymore. If you got taken once shame on them if you got taken more than once that is your problem. Make them send you money before you ship.

I saved my old toilet. I thought it would be perfect for an outhouse.

Please don't let your bitterness ruin your good heart. Get postage first with the understanding that all extra would be returned!

Just want to say it is a Saniware toilet, not a Townsend. The toilet and refrigerator are free in the classified section if someone wants them. I guess we'll just hold on to this stuff in case someone needs them for parts or something.
