Red face West Coast Restoration Help

Hi there,

I have a 1952 21' Flying Cloud and am starting the restoration. I need to strip the whole thing down and start from scratch, and would like to know if any one can recommend anyone in Western Canada (or anywhere somewhat near-ish) that works on these babies for a living? As much as this forum is an absolute wealth of information and I hope to do most of the restoration myself, I would like to have someone visually check out my 'stream and perhaps do some work on it to get me started. Any leads would be really appreciated!

Thanks!!

Casarox,
I would reccomend getting in touch with Dick McIntyre in Monroe, Oregon. His number is 805-264-0972. He stripped and reclearcoated our '95 Classic. It looks like brand new! Dick is a wealth of information on Airstreams....especially the older ones. He started working for AS in 1953 and now does refinishing in his "retirement time". Hope this helps.

I am a finishing carpenter/cabinetmaker/fabricator and am just in the finishing stages of a resto/reno of my 31 International. Depending on what you are looking to have done, I might be able to help out. I am in Kelowna now, but will be based out of Victoria soon.

Hi Jennifer

I'm no expert, but I've learned a bit in the process on my 68 Globetrotter that I'm working on in Silverton, BC.

I'd love to see your 52. If my aluminum arrives from Aircraft Spruce, I'll be coming to the Kootenays late next week.

James...any pictures of your 68?

Ian

Wow, I only updated my sig today and somebody already called me on the 68! The 68 Globetrotter is in fact, ummm, me! I am a 68 model and travel the world regularly... Thus, a 68 GT no?? I could post a pic but I think you might be disappointed.

Canlib, just checked out your 68... That's doing it right! Looks like a great project. My 31 came from a farm field in between Okotoks and High River. Luckily the shell and floor and frame were in good shape. I look forward to seeing the progress on yours. I'll post pics of the 31 in the next few weeks.
