Water hose stuck to side of RV..

Hi and thanks for reading.

We were in Arizona. I think the water there has alot of disolved minerals.
Like when you wash your vehicle, you need vinegar in the water because this hard white stuff is left behind when it dries.

Anyway, i could not unscrew the hose end from the RV, so I just cut the hose and left it in place.

Anybody have suggestions on how to loosen it up?

Maybe pouring some warm water, not hot over the connection while gently trying to turn it , maybe two people job, one pouring, one turning.

CLR and pliers. When you put the connections together a tiny amount of white lithium grease on the threads stops this from happening.

How long were you hooked up? Was your connection a two metal situation (aluminum/brass)?
If it really is minerals, you may be able to gently crimp around the hose fitting to break the “mortar” . Sliding a cut-off piece of rubber glove or such around the connection and filling with CLR solution may dissolve some of the buildup. That stuff takes a little time to work.
Some of the shop guys I used to work with would use a torch to BRIEFLY heat the outer part and break it loose. (I expect you to sign a waiver form if you try this.)
If it is two metal corrosion, I doubt you’ll be able to loosen it.

Is this a Zero-G hose? Those are the worst. I had to put one in a vise to loosen the nozzle. You need to soak that in CLR or similar then use anti-seize from now on.

If its easy to remove, soaking or replacement might be easier.

Also, a source for replacements? 1990 excella 29.

Metals: im not totally sure. I think the trailer connection is probably a brass insert moulded into that plastic star thing.
The hose? I bought the gold colored metal one thinking it was better quality. Also hoping it was brass.
But it doesnt feel like brass. Some china-metal with gold color?

I would not be spraying petroleum based solvents into your potable water connection, put some vinegar in there with a squirt bottle, apply hourly if needed and wrap in paper towels and saran wrap to keep it wet. Then use two plyers to remove. Our shower heads get that white calcium on them and soaking them in vinegar overnight gets them like new again and doesn't damage any of the rubber or plastic parts.

Hooked up fro 4 months straight without interruption or for 4 months on and off?

Pour boiling water on the fitting, wait 5 minutes, repeat, wait 1 minute, then put on oven mitts or heavy gloves and un-screw

Pam spray and channel locks. Before you put it back together, wipe a little Crisco shortening around the fitting.

I bought some of those gold colored fittings thinking they were brass but they are some kind of aluminum alloy and they corrode so badly that they won't come apart. I hope you have better luck than I did . You may be able to cut it off with a dremel tool.

I think many of these replies are mentally defaulting to a hose female end connected to a spigot. (Mine was.) I realized when I stepped out to look at ours that you need to extract the male end of the cut-off hose from your trailer connection.
From what you’ve said, it is very likely a corrosion problem, which will be nearly as strong as a weld. The aluminum alloys are more brittle than brass, so you may be able to crush what is exposed and disengage it from the surrounding trailer connection.
The plate that holds the fill port on our trailer is held on with four Phillips screws. I expect A-S used a flexible hose to connect to the tank. It doesn’t seem like it would be a big job to remove it, for ease of manhandling the hose end or giving up and replacing the fused part.

You're right, it is a male end stuck in there (I had to think on that mental default comment a minute or two). He can't cut that off with a dremel. He will probably have to change out the whole fill port or at least remove it so he can get to it better.

Lithium Grease is Toxic. Use food grade silicon.
