Water Heater

I saw a few threads but most left we still questioning my problem. First time really using my 2016 Airstream. Water heater runs on either electric or gas. Been running electric, lights just fine. Light flickers! But occassionally after it remains on the light becomes solid red. If I turn off and on it goes away, granted may reappear 5-10 hours later. Any thoughts? Do you leave your water heater on all the time or only before you use it?

We only run the WH a couple of hours a day. Once in the morning and again in the evening. Can run it all the time but do not.

On our old model the red light is a fault light for running it on gas. I am confused buy what you said. Running on electric it should not "light every time". That makes it sounds like you are running it on gas. If so, then the red light indicates that it went out. Maybe you have both gas and electric on at the same time?

Thanks Bill. Yes, it does have the option on utilizing either but the gas has been off. Propane tanks are closed and switch is off.

What does your owner's manual say?

The answer can vary for different years/models, so the manual is the best place to start. Your Airstream briefcase should also contain a mfg. pamphlet for the heater.

When my wh had the original control board a red light meant a fault. After I replaced my board with a Dragon board, the red light means a fault in the gas mode, but the red light is normally one when the water heater is in the electric mode. Just a data point for you.
