Voyager Wireless Observation System

My 2021 Bambi has this system factory installed...camera at rear of trailer, wireless monitor to sit on dash of tow vehicle. When paired, the picture on the monitor has streaks of lime green and blobs that come and go and block the view of the images in the monitor. While driving, the view of the road behind alternates green and normal...like driving over a checkerboard. Has anyone else had a similar problem? Help!

Hi

Pretty much all trailer cameras have "issues" light comes in from an odd angle and the freak out a bit. What you are seeing is not unusual.

I like my HaloView M10 on its first trip this week. The monitor hooks on the stock rearview mirror. Wireless to the camera. I power the monitor from the stock mirror. Easy installation on the trailer if you don’t mind snipping and crimping a few wires. For the camera I used the existing Voyager power which is tied to the running lights (or seems to be). The monitor is in a muscle-memory place to see what’s behind your rig. New TV has integrated trailer camera but I have not looked into it.

Caveat…too little data at this point to unequivocally recommend it. I haven’t had the camera in enough variations of glare. It was south-facing afternoon sun the entire trip. The monitor has more glare than I would like but I think I can remedy that.

I have the same system. I recently had to replace the camera due to moisture inside it. Other than that it has worked fairly well. It isn’t like looking out the rearview mirror however. But it is sufficient to get a look at what is behind me. But I would call the camera company and ask about it. You might be able to get a new camera. They were pretty helpful when I was installing mine. You should be able to get a clearer picture.

Thanks for the responses. The green issue on the monitor is not a matter of glare on the camera, as it is there even when parked in storage shed. I did reach out to the company and the rep seemed pretty baffled at what I described...said it is not a common issue...and suggested I take it to an Airstream dealer to trace the problem. I guess that is my next step.

Another thing about the HaloView is that it is a dash cam, too.

Only $210.

I had a Voyager wireless backup camera installed by an Airstream dealer 3 years ago. Though the display is a bit clunky in size, it provides an excellent picture and has been quite reliable. I would suggest taking a picture of what the image on your display looks like (if it show up well in a photo) and email it to the manufacturer.

Sounds like the digitizer from the camera's image sensor that creates the Bayer pattern may have an issue (Bad/cracked solder joint). Usually there is a CPLD or FPGA to convert the Bayer pattern to a usable video stream that is sent to the monitor for reconstitution of what the image sensor "sees".

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bayer_filter

The problem is figuring out the culprit, the sender (image sensor) or the receiver (LCD monitor) of where the stream is corrupted.

If I had to "guess"....it is most likely the camera itself.....those things are not sealed good from the factory. Our 2019 Serenity has already had the camera replaced due to water ingress...not saying that is what is wrong with yours...but if I was a betting man....replace the camera side of the equation and it all goes away.

I too have the Voyager system installed by Airstream dealer and do not have the problem you described--we are happy with the system. I agree the problem you describe is not caused by the glare that sometimes is a different issue. Sounds like the problem is with the installation or the Voyager system--it may be hard to determine which. Presumably the system/install is still under warranty and I suggest that you have the dealer make it right.
