Vin number tag

I'm trying to get a new title and plates but i can not find the vin number. I think is suppose to be on the right side of the door but it is not. is there any other place i might look? I'm pretty sure the plate should be rectangular and probably black. the trailer in a 63 28' Ambassador. Help with suggestions

Mine was stamped into the trailer tongue just behind the propane bottles on the curb side. Its stamped into on the top of the tongue in letters about a half inch high. I had to clean the paint off a little bit to make the whole thing out. Might try looking there. Mine's a 1973 Argosy.

Thanks I am going to get the paint remover. Hopefully i'll find it.
