Ventilation pipes

I took off the screen over the stove to check out the exhaust fan of my 73Ovelander. To my surprise there was no grease and it worked like new. the problem was all the wasp and hornet nests all over in there. I got up on top of the coach and checked out the vent cover. I noticed the screen was gone. I went down to the vent cover for the oven and noticed the vent screen torn also. My question is how do you clean the vent pipe to the oven? I do not want to knock dirt down on the oven. It is very obvious the oven has never been used by looking at the inside. It still looks brand new and I want to test it.

Brian, I think you are talking about a plumbing vent. I don't remember seeing a vent to our oven.
Is it the vent that has the cast aluminum cover, with a piece of nylon screen, and a rubber gasket?

I think it is. It is left of the stove vent down a few feet.

I think Terry is right on the money. My stove isn't vented to the outside either.

Thank you very much for the link. I think I can make my own gasket. I might be able to make my own screen also.

I did...bought a chunk of fiberglass screen and grabbed a chunk of 45 mil EPDM scrap from the project down the road. Set the cover on it, trace around it and cut about 1/4" bigger to allow for the curvature of the trailer. Cut the center hole a bit smaller than the pipe for a very tight fit.

If you want to go the really economy route, you can get a piece of nylon window screen from a hardware store, and an inner tube, and cut them both to fit. You should wind up with enough for all the vents for about $5.

Thanks for the info. I have made my own gaskets before for other things. Saving where you can is a good thing these days.
