What is a "more dated" television?
Less modern? Certainly not a tube.
Other thoughts. Assuming it's mounted on a bulkhead (wall) measure how wide your space is. TV's are measured diagonally, and perhaps more important, the frames and the speaker location affect the horizontal measurement as much as the picture size.
All modern TV's are using the VESA standard mount, meaning it's pre-drilled for a certain hole spacing on the back to accommodate the mount. 100mm x 100mm, for example.
Go TV shopping with a tape measure.
Now for the real nitty gritty, after you decide on what you like, download the manual and see if it has inputs and outputs to accommodate your tech. It's really hard in the store because most TV's are mounted on the wall, and salespeople are not used to answering questions about connectivity.
All will have an HDMI or two. You may have a video camera you want to play on your TV.
Personally, I like an "audio out" either in analog (RCA plugs, 3.5mm mini) or digital (RCA or fiber) to connect to a soundbar, for example, since TV speakers are dinky today.
