Tongue jack support plate misaligned

Today I was installing an Atwood Premier 4000lb tongue jack and noticed for some reason the old jack had a gap at the front between the mounting plate and hitch. After installing the new tongue jack it turns out the reason for the gap is the support plate being not aligned correctly leaving a gap in the front as shown.

I'll be elongating the support plate hole so the tongue jack can be square and flush.

I like my Airstream a lot but I'm amazed at some of the issues I find.
