Temperature sensor fix for A/C too cold

Whenever we camp in warmer weather and we turn on the A/C, we end up freezing even when the thermostat is set to 75 degrees. I had read a post that said that Airstream came up with a temperature sensor fix for this, so I called Airstream. They confirmed there is a fix and I requested they send me both the instructions and the "kit" to make the fix.

I received the instructions that are attached below and a piece of rubber (see picture). Today, I attempted to fix my 2017 FC FB. So, I was working in the sitting area of the trailer. I removed the TV and began the fix. After cutting out the round plug of rubber as the instructions say to do, I went to install it. First I noticed that while the instructions say to cut/drill a hole for the temperature sensor to pass through the rubber in the center of the rubber, the actual hole that the temperature sensor comes through the refrigerator wall is well below center. This made installation difficult. I then caulked the screw holes as mentioned in the instructions. When I went to reinstall the cover, I realized the screws were not long enough to go through the cover and the rubber. I then realized how ridiculous all this work was when I noticed that all the TV and DVD cables (power, HDMI, etc.) come right through the refrigerator wall right below the temperature sensor! As we know, heat rises! At this point, I quit and will write Airstream.

Has anyone solved this problem? Airstream seems to be clueless.

Yes they do seem clueless. From the directions you were given, it looks like they want to insulate the sensor from the cabinet with a "boot rubber plumbing close out" (!), and as you say, they tell you to seal the holes associated with the sensor but ignore the gaping hole from the tv connections. Maybe mounting the sensor above the tv hole wasn't their best idea ever

At this point you may know at least as much about the problem as Airstream. If it were me, I'd probably seal up the tv hole as best as I could with something removable, and test to see if the problem is gone. Moving the sensor away from the hole would probably also work but would leave an ugly wire exposed on the surface.
