Techical Service Bulletin #181

FYI to anyone who owns a 2020 Atlas.

I received the attached Airstream Technical Service Bulletin #181 relating to the air ride suspension system.

Please share your experience with regard to this VB Air Suspension.

Thanks as I had this problem. The air ride system was in the down position and I kept hearing the mud flaps rub on some turns. I stopped the Atlas and raised the suspension which appeared to correct the problem.

Thanks for your input David.

My plan is to bring my Atlas into an Airstream dealership. It should be fixed after a rewiring of the VB suspension by Airstream and a reprograming of the PSM by Mercedes Benz.

Vb tsb 181

I had been noticing that sometimes weird scraping noises would come from the rear when I made turns. Then I saw that on the VB remote one of the green arrows would be on, and this could be corrected by clicking the "Front/Rear" button. I think this takes it to the correct driving height. Then I got the TSB notice that will make the automatic function work. Other than that, no major problems (knock wood), with 20 nights spent and 10K miles so far since May. I have to schedule an appointment with the dealer, and hope it doesn't take too long. Airstream customer service told me on the phone that it's fine to drive in the meantime, but to adjust the height manually.

I was told that it will take about an hour for Airstream to rewire the VB air suspension. Then they have to drive it to the nearest Mercedes Benz service center to reprogram the PSM.

Oregon Airstream dealerships offers no valet service for the Atlas. It's unfair in my humble opinion.

Take care,
