Strange occurrence !

So today I got home, went outside& my dog , Maggie was under the Airstream barking & wagging her tail. She was scratching the screen for the refer intake under the trailer. So I thought there was a mouse in there; went to hardware store to buy traps, etc. When I opened the refer service door , I found a small bird in there!( alive) How did it get in there?! I didn't realize a baby bird that couldn't fly could get in a small space around the propane line !

You don't say what year trailer you have, but if it's anything like mine: check the screen on the fridge vent outlet at the top of your trailer. Maybe they came in through the chimney.

Look for a nest up there, this may be one who fell out.

I am in the midst of re sealing my 69 safari and when I pulled the refrigerator scoop and the metal oval thingy under the scoop out I found there is no mesh or even a history that mesh was ever on top the metal oval. The replacement ones have a screen similar to chicken wire installed on the top. Your bird most likely got it there...

here are the pieces we pulled from our roof. The PO had attempted to stop leaks by just adding more and more caulking to only the lower side of the very bent and warped oval flashing. Note the lack of mesh of the top of the flashing. We are refurbishing all of the parts and will repaint the scoop and re-install but I will have some mesh tack welded on to the top of the oval flashing first.

The bird came thry the reefer vent that's on the roof.

You can easily install a screen over the reefer vent collar so that will never happen again.

I bought a '67 Caravel once, virtually new and unused but it had been sitting for maybe 5 years, untouched. I found the remains of a dead pigeon in the back refrigerator compartment so it was not screened against even bigger birds. Fortunately it was long dead and all that remained was a desiccated body and a lot of feathers.
