Skylight Leak

I apologize if this is in the wrong forum. I've searched a few different ways, and don't find much on skylight leaks.

After driving through heavy rain we found several drops of water on our dinette seat cushion and dinette table; no puddles, no water detected on floor. Found one drop of water from side edge of skylight trim. Had rain while stationary at campground with no leaks. Borrowed a ladder from campground and got on roof, but found all sealant around edge of skylight base is intact.

I'm concerned because we're out several more days with rain forecasted during travel days.

The top/dome of the skylight seems to be attached to the top ridge of the base of the skylight with double-sided foam tape. If I push down on the dome where the foam tape is, it will stick then I hear it release, but the dome seems secure. The dome is not sealed around the bottom edge and it has weep/vent holes on all sides. See attached pic.

Questions:

1) I'm wondering if some rain could have been driven up over the foam tape and dripped inside. Is it possible for rain to get in above the foam tape? If so, seems ridiculous as the way that's put on it does not look 100% continuous.
2) How are these things installed/sealed?
3) Who is the manufacturer of the stock skylight (2019 Sport 22)? I'm thinking I'd have a better understanding if I could download installation instructions.

Thanks in advance, Mark

Some will say buy a new skylight...I won't.

What I did 9 seasons ago on both FF vents and the skylight. SFSG

Clean the off goopseal from the factory, and cover the edges with 3m Extreme Sealing Tape

Thought I had a pic of the skylight but no luck finding it...

Thanks, Bob.
Is that tape somewhat flexible so it won't buckle? Mark

Very...stretches a bit also so it's easy to work into a slightly uneven surface...as in rivet heads & dimples...

Bob, do you know which p/n of the tape you used? I think there's 2 different thicknesses; 0.04" and 0.08". 0.08" seems kind of thick, and, actually, so does 0.04".

Thanks in advance, Mark

That skylight is made by Sun Tek. It is a residential skylight AS uses for RVs. AS has used it for years. They used to shoot screws down through the skylight into the curb. That just caused cracks in the skylight and leaks. Later, they sold a frame that went on the skylight and still shot in the screws. They will still crack and leak that way.

I installed a new one of these skylights on my trailer. I used 3M VHB tape to secure it to the curb. I then made some spacers to go between the skylight and curb and secured it with machine screws to the curb using the holes that were already in the side edges. I did not seal the bottom to the trailer roof.

FWIW, you can buy these skylights from Home Depot/Lowes for about 70 bucks.

Thank you, CRH. This description of the design/installation was very helpful. Mark
