Shower Door Sweep Gasket
Hello all! We recently started a 4 month stay in Santa Barbara CA. I woke up this morning to find the shower door bottom “sweep” or gasket half-torn.
It is an L shaped sweep, and inserts in the bottom of the shower door. Any ideas where to get a replacement?
I have a 2017 Tommy Bahama 27FB.

common issue. We don't use it any longer....4th AS...stopped using it several years back....no issues with "water on the floor" with our 25 nor our currant 28; other than a little water from inside the shower door on the floor, when we open to exit. But, the silicon rubber seal you mention would not stop that anyway. Try your shower without and see if you really think you need a new one. We went thru this few times as they tear...now we just don't use/need it.

Like gypsydad, we stopped using it after replacing two times. No issues with water on the floor.

I have a '22 we picked up in March last year. I had to replace the shower door gasket on the road in Michigan during out summer trip, and I bought a spare. I just noticed on our shakedown this past weekend the second gasket was starting to tear and I was trying to remember where I put the spare one...
I'll make mention to DW about removing the gasket altogether; I may give that a try if I get approval. Thanks!

Thanks all. I’ll replace it once, and then consider going without.

That is exactly what I did. Replaced it once and eliminated it the next time it failed. I've noticed no difference.

I had mine come off my 2020 Airstream after owing it for 6 months. I discovered it was caused by the door not being high enough. My dealer raised the door and put a new sweep gasket on it and it was still working without any damage when I traded it in a couple of months ago. My dealer said it was pointless replacing it without raising the door enough to prevent it from rubbing the base.

You can get a replacement from Airstream. We replaced ours 3 times before replacing the door with a sliding self cleaning shower door.
We have a 2013 27 Classic. The origin of the problem is that the door starts to drag on the frame due to the door mount loosening over time.
We got the Nautilus by Stoett.
Installation was easy and the door doesn’t block the hallway - a plus when the grandkids are with us - easy to give them a quick bath or shower.

We have a 2018 international and have replaced the shower door gasket twice. As others have said, we just removed the gasket and had no problem with any water on the floor. All good.

Shower Door Sweep
Hi,
The shower door sweep was unsightly hanging through the door so I took it off.
I ordered 2 for $29.99 plus shipping. My husband put it on and it ripped again.
I'm glad, I read the reply about not using one. I'll try that on our 1st Rally for Region 3 in Myrtle Beach, SC. (March 29th - April 2nd.
Thank you!!

Fix
Gasket rips because the shower door drops. Jackson Center installs a shim under the door so it can’t drop.
You can make one or they might mail you a fix. It happened to our 2021 but under warranty still.

Hey guys (and gals); why you fooling with the gasket? Reread the posts...shower doesn't leak without it anyway? Lots of fuss about what?

"Why"; if it rips, or you need to install a "spacer" on the door, and if no water leaks out anyway without it? Just to know you have it installed--I mean what's the harm of not having it?

As others have stated, I replaced the gasket once and it ripped again. I removed it and added plastic shims, something like this - https://www.leevalley.com/en-us/shop...xoCEiQQAvD_BwE either UHMW or HDPE. Just measure for your shower situation.
I have one piece about 6" long siliconed in place near the pivot hinge for daily use, then I have a longer piece that we tape in place while traveling to keep the shower door from sagging while bumping down the road. Has worked fined the last 5 years.

That tearing gasket is the result of a classic, well known problem. Airstream techs even have a name for it, ‘shower door sag”. While the folk who correctly observe that little to no seepage will occur if there is no gasket present, having one and observing how badly it has torn tells you how bad the sag is. If the sag gets too bad the door and jamb will meet and begin to go metal-on-metal and a door replacement could be in your future. Airstream will supply a little piece of plastic to prevent the door sagging too much. I found it necessary to add a piece of credit card plastic as a shim on top of the plastic piece and to super glue them both in place. Still working after several years. Haven’t replaced the gasket and that hasn’t caused problems. Now that I know where to get replacement material I probably won’t replace it anyway.

Can someone post a picture of the shim and where this shim is installed?

The "shim" is just a washer. You can get at ACE or Home Depot type hardware store in the "specialty" screw/washer/nut section. I don't remember the size I used when I did mine, but there are a few choices in diameter and thickness that can work; different materials also including nylon or SS as I recall. Take your door off and you can see what you will need. Not too difficult.

I had Airstream Adventures in Idaho do a list of repairs over the winter. They fixed the missing shower sweep without being asked. Must be a common thing. I was ok without it, but I’m fine with it too. We’ll see how long it stays on this time.
Great service, BTW.
