Shower door Fell Off
On my last trip I opened the shower door and the door came out of its holders. I kept it from falling to the ground and discovered a couple of important screws that have worked their way loose over the past 15 seasons of ownership.
Essentially my glass door on my 2004 Classic center bath trail is held by two pins that connect to a holder on the top and bottom. Those pins however have a 1/4" bolt that allows the pins to slide along the length of the door. The purpose of the pins sliding is to allow you to square up the door to accommodate a not so perfect opening. You try to square up the door, to keep the gaskets on both sides sealed.
The gaskets on the left side or door handle side is a double magnet concept which keeps the door tight when it is closed. One magnet is is the frame and the other is in the door.
Apparently what happened is to top bolt that keeps the pin stable in the door loosened up over the years and when I opened the door, the pin slid which allowed the top right side of the door to dip, thus releasing the pin from its holder, and the door subsequently falling out of the frame. The lower pin slide was also not tight which allowed the bottom right corner to move to the right.
So be aware that door may begin to creep and either show signs of water leakage (because the magnets may not overlay each other) or you could get a catastrophic failure like I had where the door suddenly releases from the pin holders.
Thankfully I had a small 1/4" open ended wrench which I used to loosen up the bottom pin slide and the top pin slide. I realigned the door getting it square in the frame and tightened thinks down. All is well and thankfully we didn't break anything.
