I can whole heartedly recommend a trip to the mothership. Last fall I took my 93 Excella in for a rear panel replacement. Not only was their quote lower than the local qualified repair shop but they squeezed me in right away to accommodate my work travel schedule. The icing on the cake was when the work was completed they charged me LESS than the quoted price. They said the work went easier than expected.
Nothing but love for Jackson Center!

It is worth the trip just to take the tour of the factory.

Tours paused...

Factory tours were paused when I was in Jackson Center last month. I doubt they’re restart until the pandemic is under control. The good news is once they restart, they’ll be at the brand new factory!

Factory service

I would recommend taking it in for factory service repairs whether they are in or out of warranty. After my dealer was unresponsive, I travelled the same distance for warranty repairs and they completed them professionally. At one trip, they had noticed the HVAC diffusers fell out between the time they finished the repairs and retrieved my trailer for pick up. After advising them that happens all the time, they said they had a fix if I could wait while. They had all of them remedied of that problem within 30 minutes.

I have been to JC three times, the last being for new tires w/brake check, window replacement (shattered by a stone hitting the side), and other misc repairs that they could do better than me.

Fortunately, we are only 2 hours away ... about the same distance as our dealer. If you are further away, I still recommend the trip. If you have an appointment scheduled, I would check to see how long out you may have to wait for warmer weather before you cancel as they are always busy.

Go! The repair will be done right the first time and anything else that needs fixed. It’s a wonderful experience that you will not find anywhere and you’ll appreciate your Airstream even more. I’ve made the trip from the Space Coast area of Florida solo and it was worth every mile.

Just returned from JC

My wife and I just returned from dropping our trailer off at the Airstream Service Center. Our trailer had been winterized so we spent the night before in a nearby campground that had an open bathhouse. Since we were the only transient camper, no one else was using the bathhouse. We were comfortable with the Cvoid protocol at the service center. Upon entry, they checked our temperatures and asked us to complete a questionnaire regarding any exposure. We were given a sterilized pen to use and were, of course, required to wear masks. The employees we had any contact with all wear masks.

Hope this helps some.

should I go?

Was just at Jackson Service Center three days ago (11/22/2020). Needless to say, they are experts at what they do and their resources are unparalleled. They're friendly too.

My only hesitation would be the Ohio weather in November/December, and IF the weather turns against you, how you would feel about pulling a trailer on icy roads covered with corrosive salt?

Your call...

The Terraport is parking space with hookups for Airstreams at the factory. Free if they are working on the trailer. $10 a night if you are just passing through.

We just came back from dropping off our airstream and will be going back to pick up. It was over 600 miles for us, No need to find a campsite...Airstream has hookups where you can park and have electric and septic. As far as Covid, they wear masks and are aware of social distancing and disinfection. My recommendation is to have your repair done by the mothership. Besides, it’s awesome to see all the airstreams in their lot,

"The panels always seem to come loose."

I had the same problem and fixed it by filling the area around the set screw with glue gun glue.......It's clear so it doesn't look off and the best part it can be removed if you ever need to.

Seems like someone should suggest that those doing such a fantastic job on warranty repairs should move over to the construction department to stop the defects at the source.

Most of them actually are the super stars from the construction side from what I understand.

The complaints offered re Quality Control of Airstreams DO NOT apply to repair services ! The service center does excellent work with courtesy and care. It is also of value to have your paperwork reflect the work by the mother ship.

Thanks!

Many thanks to all! I've decided to re-schedule for May, and we plan to combine with a trip to upstate NY and places yet to be determined farther west.

Very much looking forward to the visit to the mothership as well as a bunch of other places. Can't wait!

Thanks again, Mark

But another post stated that the personell were interchangeable and in any case wouldn't there be a standard ethos right across all departments
