Shock absorber for 1955 Safari

I need to replace the shocks on my 1955 Safari. It has an original drop axle with leaf springs.

What model shock absorber will I need for my 1955 Safari?

When we installed a torsion axle from Colin Hyde he recommended the Monroe 555003 Magnum RV shock absorber. Don’t know if it’ll fit in your application. Good luck

I am going to defer to my mechanic, take one of the shocks to him and see what he suggests.
The shocks are so old that any labels are long gone.

Good plan. He should be able to size the sleeve and travel of the shock. Hope that’s the worst problem you run into. Good luck
