Sharp metal cut hazard

Hello I'm a proud new owner of Airstream Bambi 19ft 2018.
Looking forward to learning from this great web site and it's nice people.
I just sold 16ft Scamp what my wife said was too small.
My issue is a 3" x 3" piece of aluminum that extends out of base of wheel well
3" in front and 3" in back of both tires. This is a hazard to your hands when you are changing tire(hopefully this will never occur).
Should i just cut this off?
Should I just rap with duct tape?
Should I rap with rubber molding?
See picture.
Thanks Steve

My opinion, for what it's worth: duct tape will harden over time and will be a mess to remove. Molding or edge trim? Maybe. But I'd attack the problem at the source: take a Dremel tool with a sanding drum and round off the sharp corners.

Yep, another vote for using a Dremel or maybe even a file, to smooth off those rough edges so they won't cut you.

If you should choose the duct tape route be sure and use Gorilla tape. It's comes off much easier than the other brands and won't leave behind a lot of messy residue.

This is what I would do as well.

One more thought. Before you do anything else, complain to the dealer and ask them to make it right. There's no way something that hazardous, and frankly unfinished, should be exposed on your trailer.

Steve, you should get that done soon. You never know when your wife might have to change a flat tire. Dave

I cleaned up the sharp edges of ours with a file. Also the rear bumper corners and the awning extension arms cut ends.

Call Airstream Customer service. They may already have a fix in the works. My friend bought a new Interstate recently. First off his wife got a nasty injury from the end of the right passenger seat track's sharp edge exposed when the seat was moved to it's limit of travel. Sometimes thes defects are not obvious durring ths build.

Fixed sharp corner by cutting it off and smoothing edge with file. Then I put 1/4"
white plastic tubing over edge. See before and after pictures.
Thanks for all your suggestions. Happy trails Steve.
