I feel for you.

Those that know me understand, but others call me a fanatic.

Every time I bring one of my vehicles in for something I can't do myself, or for warrantee work, there is a new scratch, marr or other anomaly that wasn't there before.

I try and do most things myself because for the most part I have found that nobody cares for your things like you do.

This is an experience that goes back to the 60's and has never changed - well, maybe has gotten worse lateley.

Am I anal when it comes to my things - you bet!
I have been a car nut for as long as I can remember - even maintained a concours class winning show car - glad to be done with that episode of my life though!

Only I can lavish the care and attention to my possessions that they deserve.

As I said - I feel your pain.

Oh, wow. I am so sorry about your hurts.

I hope they will make it better to the best of their ability and your approval!

I have a vintage racecar with very nice (and reasonably expensive) Panasport-type wheels. They are a beautiful silver powder-coated color, and the guys at the station who put the tires on them put wheel weights on the outside (you're supposed to tape them to the inside if you use them). We told them they were not to be balanced, so they ripped them off with their weight tool like they do with all of the wheels they service... ripping the powdercoating in those areas off as well. Poor Brad had got them home and got them installed before I saw them, so there was nothing we could do.

I wish people would just think a little before they do something.

Well, Jeff took the RV to the glass company and they said they won't rub the windshield scrape out because it is on the corner and it will ultimately cause the entire windshield to crack. He spoke to the shop owner and told him this and about the rims. The guy offered some rubbing compound for the rims and nothing for the window. Jeff told him he didn't want them to touch it and left it at that.

Alumatube, that's how we felt. How can they do this kind of work and not see or consider the damage that they are doing? Do they really feel we don't care? I don't get it.

Romap, thankfully Jeff is able to do a lot of the work himself. Unfortunately he wants to believe that people are going to take the care with his things that he would with theirs and then they don't. We are simply going to have to stay with all of our vehicles when we bring them in for inspection. I think he will be doing most of the repairs himself from now on.

The shop I currently work in seems to have hired the village idiot (not me

). He is a nice enough guy, but his work ethic is not what I would call up to snuff. I'm thinking of nicknaming him "the comeback kid"...

Eddy,nice self control! I'm surprised that they did'nt kick your dog, as well. Would it help if we started identifying the culprits, maybe a dedicated thread, so other AS people can avoid them? Keep Smilin' LJH

There are glass polishing kits available if you would like to do it yourself. I have seen them at the Eastwood Co. web site, which I believe is Eastwood Company: Auto Tools, Body Repair, Classic Car Restoration, House of Kolor Paint, Powder Coating. That's exactly what I would do, along with never returning to the shop and telling them so!

Lewster is right, Eastwood's product works reasonably well. I've used it to work out wiper scratches on an older windshield and it did a good job. The catch is to not overdo it. You may not get all the scratches out, but you get it down to an acceptable level or better.
