Rusty screw upgrade
While brushing the winter wind deposits from the drip rail above where the awning attaches, I discovered two screws on the road to rust perdition. Not serious on this 2017, but we all know where it leads if left alone: impossible to remove the screw someday.
Solution was to remove the screws and replace them with a stainless steel screw from my handy collection of aviation screws and washers. Before installation, added a drop of ACF 50 thin film anti corrosion "sauce" to the screw threads and threaded the screw through an appropriate size nylon washer - to reduce any tendency toward dissimilar metal corrosion.
Detected only slight evidence of corrosion on the old screw threads, but would expect not much, as the aluminum is the sacrificial metal. I noted that the screws attaching the main door rain gutter are stainless, already. Fun easy project and shiny again.
