Rock guard & Zip Dee awning parts, availability/costs?

We are looking at purchasing a '70 tradewind that is pretty original. There is no rock guard but it has the arms and outer frame. Is it possible to purchase just the replacement plexiglass? We have found a complete replacement at $495, hoping to reduce that cost!
This also has a awning and arms but does not have the clam shell that covers the awning. We have priced a Zipdee replacement at $1,200 for roller, awning material, clam shell and springs. Anyone out there now if you can just purchase a Zipdee clam shell?

Check Craigslist under Columbus OH - there is a guy from a closed RV dealership selling the awning and housing - various sizes - for under $500 if I recall correctly.

The original clear 1970 rockguard was junk when it was first install.

All to many times, the plastic crack and flew off when traveling.

Replace it with a current style, is the best answer.

Welcome to the forum. I agree with Andy. The replacement is much more durable. Look at the avitar of my Caravel to see what it looks like.
At one time I think I remember one of the vintage club members discussing maybe making a vacuum mold to do a replacement in polycarbonate; but since the softing temperature for this plastic is so high it would likely have to be aluminum; a pricey undertaking. I had an adapter machined out of 5000 series aluminum to my design for a classy fit.

I have a missing fastener wheel or lock down wheel for the Zip Dee awning on my 75 Sovereign.
Also a missing table unit by the door. no idea where to start looking on line.
I am checking with Colaw RV salvage close to Joplin but no response yet as it is 7/4.

You can get the lock wheel from zip dee they are excellent and are pretty quick too
