Replacing insulation in 1960 Airstream

Does anyone have any suggestions as to the best type of insulation to replace existing insulation?

Welcome to the forums! 'Best Type' may be a bit hard to confirm, we have folks who spray in foam and folks who would never spray foam. Others use standard stranded fiberglass like the original. I've seen spray ceramic used. Others use the bubble type, or it's cousin Reflectix. Some have used hard foam boards.

Some folks cant commit and use a combination!

FWIW, I used reflectix because I hate itching, it's not permanent like spray in, my roof curves too much for big chunks of foam board and I'm too cheap to use the $$$$ ceramic stuff...

Hello!
I have a few questions about insulation. I would like to avoid using the fiber glass insulation. What about spray insulation to insulate the body of the airstream? One source told me that it would cause the shell to crinkle and warp as the adhesive spray dried but I'm thinking that you could tack a sheet of plastic onto the interior of the shell and then spray the plastic onto that sheet.

Also what are the preferred ways to insulate the floor? I was considering making a frame under the floor in for drop-in insulation board.

Any thoughts?

Thanks for the help!

I remember re-insulating the roof of a SOB a number of years ago. I used Roxul Plus. It is a mineral-based batting which is brown in color, has the same properties as pink fiberglass without the itching. See Stone Wool
