Replacing door padding

The padding around the top of our door fell off recently and I want to make sure I use the right method/adhesive to put it back up. It looks to me like it has come off once and the previous owner used silicone sealant to adhere it which lasted at least 5 years before letting go. There looks to be an original adhesive above the door frame that isn’t silicone. See attached pictures.

Has anyone had to reattach this padding on their trailer, and if so, what did you use?

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Hoping I'm not the only one that's had this bumper come off. How did you re-attach yours if it's happened to you? Our 2004 Classic has mouse fur, so not sure if that affects method of attachment.

Huh, I have never heard of anyone with this problem...

Well, you might try the 3M weather stripping glue that is used to hold door and window seals in place. That stuff lasts forever, but I don't know whether it can hold heavy/bulky stuff. You can order it from Vintage Trailer Supply. It comes in a black color, and also in a beige (but you might have to look harder to find the beige, it is often referred to as "monkey snot").

Another contact cement that is awesome is called Barge Cement. I have used it to resole shoes and it is great. The problem you are likely to encounter is that you will need to get all the silicon off of the bumper to allow something else to stick to it.

good luck!

TRY THIS><><><><>

I haven't used it on the door 'eye brow', but it has worked very well on both fabric & hard materials. 👍

Forgot.......cleancleanclean all the old gunk and follow directions.
I use BRAKLEEN

PL adhesive

Finally getting time to get back to this, and about time…. We’re leaving on a 2 week ‘summer’ vacation next week so time is of the essence!
We have all the silicone removed from both the door frame and the ‘eye brow’. We’re planning on using PL adhesive following some advice from family familiar with it later today. I’ll be trying it on a small spot on the eye brow first to make it’s compatible. I’ll post an update here if I have any issues.
