Replacement for OEM Penguin heat pump

Looks like our Dometic DuoTherm Penguin heat pump has bitten the dust. What's the best unit to replace it, with at least the same 13,500btu?

I went with another Penguin, to keep the low profile and the interior plenum.

The are sold as separate parts.

I also upsized it to 15k btu.

Regards,

JD

Thanks. Mine is the older "Penguin I" rather than the low profile "Penguin II". Do you know if the version "II" will still use the old interior plenum?

I can't say for sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if it would work.

JD

Wow, your rig is a 2007 and it just went out?

I have a 2015 and AS is installing the 2nd one this week under warranty.

I will pay the thing off this year and will get rid of the unit, we have had nothing but problems in 18 months of ownership.

Getting rid of the Airstream or the A/C unit? Two failed A/C units in 18 months?

It will work. I did the reverse on my 2008... I kept the exterior penguin I mechanicals but changed the interior air distribution cover with the one that ships with the Penguin II as part of an over cosmetic update. The old square yellowish plastic air distribution box wasn't doing it for me....

The newer air distribution box works better to cool off the trailer for what it is worth....

2 A/C's, one furnace, two refrigerator repairs, then a new refrigerator, a leak in the roof and one water pump. My 23FB International is cursed.
