Repair work by who?

I had a wheel come off and do some body damage to the left side. I will not take it to the AS dealer, one shop is completely full and the other Airstream expert whom I do trust can't get to me until late October, but JC can get to me now! I live in Colorado so it is a 20hr drive out there to drop it off. JC said it would take about 3 weeks to fix.

So do I wait for Luke or hit the round to Jackson Center?
Everyone in Colorado knows and respects Luke.

Opinions?

Thanks!

I can only say that I've had similar damage repaired at JC, and they did a superb job. Long way to drive, but it will be done right.

It'll be done right either way knowing Luke. So it's kinda of a flip of the coin. 20 hour drive equals how many days and stops, 2 or 3 depending on how many hours or miles you drive on a trip. Then if JC can get you in, right away like they said. Then turn around and another couple of days back home. Cost of gas, food and camping. Or stay and wait for the extra time for Luke's.

Thanks for the comments. I am going to call both places today and make a decision. My biggest concern is getting parts. When I had to order a major component from the Airstream dealer in CO, it took 3 months to get here and then was the wrong size part.

Have you tried Timeless Travel Trailers in Wheat Ridge CO? Several of us have had very good experiences with them.

A&P Vintage Trailer Works in Paradise, TX (a bit NW of Fort Worth) does excellent work.

While I was dropping off my new trailer for extensive upgrades, I was able to see a 60's vintage Airstream that had been rolled over in an accident, but fully restored by A&P. It looked like a brand new trailer. The pictures of the trailer before the repairs were heartbreaking. The entire shell was caved in and bent. The restoration was impeccable.

I visited A&P Vintage Trailer Works a couple of weeks later and they were hard at work repairing a recent model Airstream that had been rear ended in an accident.

I have been very impressed with the quality of the work on my trailer and the other trailers that I have observed at their facility. They have sent me photos of each stage of the work on my trailer for both documentation purposes and so I can see how things are being done.

Give Paul Mayeux a call. Their contact information is easy to find via Google search, but you can also send me a private message and I would be happy to share it with you via that method too.

JC; without a doubt...make the drive. If extensive body work, they will pick up at 7am return at 3:30ish each day and you can stay free at the space port. If you stay at a hotel, they will not have to return each day, and they will get don quicker. Discuss with service when you arrive to make that decision...

Dito on Jackson Center and you don't have to wait on parts.

Hi

The big advantage of JC is that they have quicker access to some parts. You never really know what's broke until you get in there and start fixing things. That's true no matter how good a tech you are dealing with .....

Had same problem with the left side of the trailer ripped up pretty badly. JC did an excellent job making it right.

BTW - always loosen and torque your lug nuts to the recommended ft/lbs. the reason these tires come off is because the lug nuts are put on too tight during tire replacement or some other servicing issue. I also make sure my TPMS system is on the job.

And if you do stay at a hotel many offer a discount thru Airstream. You can also ask about that when discussing whether to stay at the space port.

We stayed in Sydney about 15 miles away. New Marriott Suites I believe...Senior rate. Had just opened...think $100~ night? In JC, there are only couple places to eat, which was a reason we decided to stay in Sydney.
