Removing Decal glue

Any tips on removing the left behind glue after removing decals/stickers ? My first choice would normally be denatured alcohol. But,wanted to check with guys first. Thanks

Some adhesives give up and die with plain old salad oil, especially labels ON food related containers and utensiles. Give it 5 minutes, then work towards the center with a paper towel.

Naptha lighter fluid, mineral spirits... with modern adhesives we're not really looking to dissolve them outright but modify that stable form designed into it so they can be gently rubbed away without leaving the underlying surface soaked for too long.


Joe Somewhen used something like lacquer thinner to remove 'spirit of 1776' 1976 bicentennial decals from my project '73... add thirty years without clearcoat and the aluminum to resembles 240 grit sandpaper...

Thanks everybody. I ended up having a small can of Goop-Off. worked like a champ. I will remember the WD-40 for next time though.
