Thanks, That is my plan. I don't want an auto light, they seem to need 12v to light. I a big believer in the KISS principle. It is good to know that I can use the original cover. Adios, John

Did you resolve the dining table up front issue? I saw a pic on this site today of a "Planet" Air (AS). He used a wall mounted swivel swing-away hardware with a narrow table on it. I'm impressed with your AS remodel. What did you do with the water line that goes from the kitchen to the bath? On my '70 Ambassador it runs under the goucho (where you now have the side dining. But it seems your tub may be on the street side and mine is on the curb side. Guess if I want to do something different with that area I must move the pipe.

Well, no that I have the dinette in the middle I just going with an L shaped couch and take the old table hardware, cut it down and make a small flip up table buy the door. That way we can eat up there or play games etc.

Working on the New black tank I got from Inland RV.

It has a flange around the top. So I have decided to drill holes every 4 inches and screw it to the subfloor from underneath. Then run 2 support straps as well. Then install the new pan I made. The old one was rusted out and I'm can't believe I didn't drop the tank when it was full!!!!!!!

The new pan will support it like the old one did. So I'm pretty sure this thing is going to be solid. I'll take pics tomorrow of my progress.

Well, today was a very broken up work day so I didn't get what I wanted done.

But here some pics of the bathroom and what tile I'm am using for the counter top. Tomorrow I hope to get all the wall panels cut out and put in and box in the cabinets...

I got the holes cut out for the toilet and vent for the black tank. And marked on the black tank. I need to got down to the local rv guy and get a new toilet flange to mount the toilet on with.

And I also need to pick up a fiberglass kit to put the flanges on the new black tank...

I have 3 good longs days of work coming up.

Where did you get the tub and wall panel for above the sink? Are they from the newer model AS? They look custom due to the curves. Just curious

Original stuff that came with it. I just got a kit to paint the tub/shower and some spray paint for plastic for the wall unit.

Ok, Got the bathroom walls up today, pocket door, and all the parts for the closet cut and stained. They go in tomorrow. Also Get the the last wall section up buy the fridge and get it in place...

Man tracing those old wall peaces doesn't mean they are going to fit...

Well I got the closets in, the fridge in place and the frame for the front "L" shaped couch in. Lot of work building from scratch. Plus I designed as I went. Not always the best way to do things.

I have roped my neighbor into doing some small stuff like putting in lights and the new batter box. He will help tomorrow. It will save me some time. He has been putting the new fitting in the black tank I got from Andy.

I will try to post pics tomorrow... 4 more days, then I'm suppose to be on the road.... We will see....

I'm excited to see pictures of the L-shaped sofa frame, we are doing the same on our 68 Ambassador. I'm going with a stand alone table that can be taken outside and used with a couple of vintage camping chairs.

Well the couch is just about finished I will have to see how the cushions fit when I get them. The kitchen counter is in and I hope to put the marble tile on it tomorrow but we will see.

I need to finish the bathroom. Hopefully my valve for the black tank will come so I can get it in.

here are some pics of my couch frame. I kept the grocho part of it so that slides out to form our bed..

here are some more pics.

The weird cut out on the back is for the couch when it slides out. I will have double foam on the back, so there will be 2 pieces of 4" foam forming the back of the couch so when it folds out it all goes flat to form a nice bed..

We will have to see if it works all right. I may have to put some more plywood in to help support it. I will see when the foam is in.

Also a pic of the kitchen counter and cabinets.

Thanks for the pic's. How deep is the L side? I'm thinking of a 26"deep x 5"thick seat with a movable back that I can add to the length of the seat to make a small twin for a grandchild . I'm also going with a pull out sofa so 2 children and sleep feet to feet. I know it won't work, I can hear it now, YOU ARE TOUCHING ME! but I'm going to try. Love our Ambassadors!!!!

Mine is 22" deep and I'm using a high density 4" foam.

Yeah I understand about the kids. Thats why I built the bunks.

Got the black tank put in tonight. Finished some trim, and got the marble tile down on the kitchen counter during the day.. And worked on making a battery box...

Picked up the grey tank all though it wasn't what I ordered it will work.. Will get that in tomorrow I hope...

I will try and get some pics up tomorrow.

Well it's been a day of buying stuff.

First I dropped off the grey tank to get the fittings put in it.

Then went and picked up the foam for the couch and dinnete. That stuff in not cheap... But we got a firm foam it it will be great for sitting on and sleeping on.

Got the black tank up. You can see a pick of the flange and the screws in it. I figure each screw has a pull rate of at least 20 lbs and there are 34 screws around the tank. and the tank full would weigh about 210 lbs.
Plus I will be putting the pan back on and the supports for that too.

I got the marble down on the kitchen counter top. Get the back splash and bathroom done tomorrow.

Also my neighbor who is a retired machinist, made me a battery box for my two batteries I moved up front. He did a great job....

Counter tops and plumbing hooked up tomorrow and it should be ready for the trip.

Ok, no pics today it got dark on me. I got my new grey tank installed and the black tank cover on on done. The plumbing is all hooked up except for the connection to the fresh water tank.
The fitting they spun on has come off. I will use some plastic weld to put it back on with some screws maybe. Once its in it shouldn't move around.

I was suppose to leave tomorrow but I'm not sure if I will? I still need to get the belly pan on too...

Man, stuff takes more time than you think. especially with a 3 and 6 year old wanting attention...

My wife is complaining the kitchen and bathroom counter tops in the AS are nicer than the house. And so are the fixtures.

Thats the way it goes sometimes...

Everything is looking good, I think you are making great progress, If we were making 1/4 of your progress we would be finished by 4th of July, but no-way.

Sweet battery box, Jason. There's something Coleman cooler-esque about it! We'll get the rest of the Ambassador shiny like the battery box this winter.

Well, finally got my pump running, had a 110volt instead of a 12 volt. Go figure..

Had to replace the shower fixture as it shot out into the tub when the pressure got up. Found a replacement at home depot with some mods.

Also got in a quick connect shore power line. Will try to takes some pics tomorrow...

Now I just have a axle problem, as Inland RV won't have the axles in when I am going through LA.

Trying to work something out..
