really dumb newbie question!

We just bought a 2007 Safari 25' FB SE this weekend and are thrilled with it! The problem is...my husband lifted up the queen size bed to show me the storage underneath. Now we can't figure out how to release the supports to allow the bed to lie back down flat. It is pretty important for us to be able to figure this out!! Will somebody please take pity on us and tell us the trick? We are excited to be a part of the Airstream community.

Those supports are gas filled shocks, all you need to do is push down on the bed and they will compress on their own. There is no release for them. It may seem like you are pushing too hard but they will just close own their own with a little force.

Being a former Carolina girl (grew up there), please ask any questions that you need to. We have only had ours for a yr and are still learning about it. The best advice, we have received was to make a toolbox that you take with you everywhere. You will need it..good luck and enjoy! We love our Classic!

That wasn't even close to a dumb question. ( I should know, having asked my fair share) It actually reenforces the best piece of Newbie advise I ever received. If it feels like you have to FORCE something.. stop and rethink. It usually means you are doing something wrong. In this case more push was the answer.

Welcome to the forums. You live in a great part of the country for Airstreaming. There are very active groups in NC as well as north GA. One of the things we did early on was attend a couple of rallies so that we could ask all kinds of questions and look at other Airstreams as well to see how people use theirs. I know the forums are holding rallies in GA and SC, and the GA unit of the WBCCI has a campground north of Helen GA with almost monthly rallies during the summer. Please come out and join us.
