Propane Tanks Need to be Covered?
I have a 1973 Airstream sovereign and the original aluminum 35 pound propane tanks. I know they need to be certified by the question I have is do you need to put a cover over them to protect them from rocks etc that might hit them? Is it a regulation to cover them?

I see plenty of cheap SOB's being sold without tanks covered. I think the covers help minimize wear on the tanks, regulator, and components, but I don't think there is any requirement.

Many vintage Airstreams have uncovered propane tanks, including my 1954 Liner, but then they are aluminum and not subject to rust like a steel tank.

The only item that needs a cover is the regulator. If it doesn't have one already, buy the cover for your propane regulator, install it, and you're done.

I have been using propane for 59 yrs. from 1lb. cyl. up to 500 gal. tanks. What is propane regulator cover? Never heard of it or seen one, only cover was on 500 gal. tank that covered valve, regulator was appliance end not tank. Bill

It's a little plastic cover that partially covers the regulator.
