Parts & Upgrades - Where to Shop and Idea
Good Day All.
I've owned my Airstream for four years now and continually amuse myself when I discover things. I'm sure some will roll their eyes with a chuckle, but as there are always new folks joining, I thought I'd throw this out there.
Last night, I stumbled upon High Sky RV Parts and discovered their extensive OEM section on Airstream parts, including the 550 page Parts Manual for the 2016 Airstream. Geez Louise, I see a cost for a part and realize quotes I get from my Airstream dealer are marked up as high as 300% for the same part. I immediately ordered parts I was not going to pay via the dealer/service.
I have a 2016, 19' Flying Cloud and have made upgrades along the way such as pulling the stock Inverter (that died in 6 months) to a better model. I then changed out the scissor stabilizer jacks to the newer lunar landing (as I call them) jacks; much better stabilization. Nice to have the landing rod out where you can see it. The Interstate batts (2 sets) died at 4 and 6 months. I changed to a Trojan dual 6-volt batts; no more issues. I added 100W expandable solar and upgraded last week to a Voyager rear cam (initial came useless). I have had no love for the cool white recessed lights, but my dealer quoted $300/light for new lights. I find them on the HSRVP site for $43 per light. The service crew also told me the bulbs in my spots are not removeable. They are, and I have ordered the warm white.
For those looking, check out there site. If anyone has any other resources or suggestions on Oven/Stove upgrade, love to hear; that is on my upgrade list.
