Parbond, Gutterseal, Vulkem?

I've heard a lot about these three sealants(Par bond Gutter Seal and Vulkem) but don't haven't heard a good consensus on when to use each one. Could anyone give a general idea of what types of applications each is best used for?

I don't use gutterseal.

Parbond = small seams where waterproofing is needed. ie, top of center belt molding; around battery doors, tail light housings, marker housings, etc. I'd say less than 1/8" gap.

Vulkem (Sikaflex) = Larger gaps and roof item sealing. (I use the UV formulas) ie, awning rails, roof rails, lower belt molding tops, window eyebrows etc.

When you have specific areas you are sealing, and are unsure, just ask.

I use Vulkem for just all exterior purposes on the Airstream, including smaller cracks where others use Parbond. (My own observations -- completely unsystematic, I might point out -- suggest that Vulkem withstands the effects of outdoor sunlight better than Parbond.) When using Vulkem, run tape along both sides of the small crack, apply a small bead, smooth with finger, remove tape.

The credit goes to everyone that contributes to that 30 page sealant thread. I just spent the time reading and reading and collecting and editing to try and get “final consensus”.
