Outside Campartment Door Wire Fix

I noticed there was cut marks from the wire on the outside door hinges in the gaskets. I try not to put anything on the door when it’s opened but as I’m putting stuff in sometimes things happen to hit the door. Fearing potential leaks from the gasket being cut by the wire I decided to pad the wire so it would not cut the remaining gaskets. Went to the local hardware store and purchased 2 feet of a very small plastic tubing (.41 cents). Carefully made a slit down one side of the tubing and put the wire through it. Wrapped the tubing with electrical tape. So for less than 50 cents hopefully this will rectify the small wire from cutting the remaining gaskets on my three outside compartments.

I used 1/8 inch vinyl covered braided cable to replace the OEM cables. Protects the rubber gasket and is stronger

That’s a GREAT idea! I have some spare 10G braided wire hanging around. Probably only need a foot on each side. Might do one in red and one in black just for fun. Great suggestion!!

I use 3M Extreme Sealing Tape...always in the AS kit.👍

I like your method better than mine. I protected the gasket on the gasket and not the wire like you did.

That looks like a poor Place to mount the end. I drilled and mounted in the side of the door frame. Plenty of clearance and no cutting of the gaskets.
