Oops, screwed into our black tank.
While screwing down our new floors, we screwed into our black tank about 1/4". Not a through and through but want to do a plastic weld to prevent it getting any worse but need to know what type of plastic the tank is made of. Anyone out there know? We have a 1992 Excella. Thanks!

Is the plastic black, or white? If black, it is probably ABS. If White, probably HDPE.
good luck!

My tank is black HDPE. Try using a soldering iron or heat gun. If it's HDPE you can just smoosh the hole closed.
If ABS you can just solvent glue a patch on.

3M5200. Purchase at Lowes. Expensive but water won't bother it and won't come off. boatbuilders use it all the time

Great addition to the AS tool kit. Many uses.
I just used it this morning to insulate a wiring repair on my e-bike battery. 👍

Thanks for all the tips. We found someone who does plastic welding who is coming out today to fill and weld the hole.

That's the best way. Not much sticks to HDPE.

So you are seeing double posts on this topic. My husband posted as well. One hand not telling the other what we've done and here we are. Thanks again everyone!

Clean the area with electronic cleaner aerosol and let it dry...then patch with JB Weld. Permanent fix.
